1920 Was A Very Good Year (The 5th Knock)
I had a different approach to this house: I sent a letter. I have always loved this house since I was a little girl and drive by it now on a daily basis as it is in a central area of town. The owners, Ron & Susan had a For Sale By Owner sign in the yard. I wrote to them telling them who I was and some of my thoughts about their house and property and how I'd like to list and market their home. The letter (and some other information) got me an invitation to the house to see it and interview for the listing. I was tickled when they called again to let me know that I was selected! Ron and Susan are nice people who love this property and have spent time and resources to improve the house, (2) 2 car garages, swimming pool and almost acre lot that is shaded by trees that send breezes around the home and lawn on the warmest of days. Driving up from the back of the property and getting out of the car you immediately feel like finding a spot under the grandfather oak, grabbing an iced tea and a book or just sitting watching Lakeland scoot by while you relax. The house is welcoming also with the whole downstairs making up the common area and pool/patio. This is THE house to have if you like to entertain and love historic homes. Even though this home is looking for new owners, the current ones are pretty neat! Ron doesn't have a great deal of history on the home but said he did feel like his home was one on the Kenmore Trail. (Home materials could be purchased as a kit in the early 1920's and shipped to the site to be constructed). Something I felt was interesting was that this home didn't come up on my MLS search- which means that it most likely found it's owners in different ways, like the way the current owners acquired it..by loving the home and asking. All it takes is a knock.
